Day 05 A Picture of your favorite Night

This is tough!!! I have spent a lot of nights or should I say early mornings like 3am, in my most drunken state, screaming or whispering (depends really how drunk I am), “this is my favorite night ever” as if celebrating my last stay here on earth. Typically, this happens when I’m with my ultimate drinking buddy, my boyfriend, and our friends. I don’t have pictures to commemorate some of those crazy fun nights. I guess we were all too unhinged either to hold a pose or the camera for having a drop too much.

That’s why thanks to Carlo Salcedo for his amazing Photography skills and perfect timing, he was able to capture just the right moments of this rare night!

June 03, 2011--- After a long hiatus, Audible MC’s went back on stage for Cushe Footwear’s “DEUCE” event at B-Side, Makati City (see related post here). It was the sickest gig ever! They performed their tracks from The Undivided Attention LP with a live band set-up! Imagine, “In the zone” and “Jazz Session” live!!!!! Plus, a lot of people came through, hip-hop heads and fans showed their support. I can’t even begin to describe how amazingly surreal (is there such a thing?) the event was! We ended the night with a small celebration outside the venue so yes, we got fucked up. ;-)

Day 04: How was your life changed over the past year?

Frankly, I feel like it’s barely changed at all and I have days when I feel like it’s changed a lot. Latter part of 2010 was really tough. I’m talking about overwhelming anxiety and wretchedness, sleepless nights and days of blur. I even got hospitalized for fuck’s sake! But now looking back, I’m not saying I’m happy that I went through such pain, but I’m thankful. I’m thankful that it happened because I was pushed to the limit. When I was going through shit, I wanted to prove my value and worth as a human being so bad. I thought I needed to/had to explain since they were asking. Of course, I wanted to tell my story. Until one day, I realized it was futile. Sabi nga ni Col. Nathan Jessep (A Few Good Men), “either way, I don’t give a damn what you think you’re entitled to!” DUH. Oo nga naman. At that point, I still had some determination and strength reserved hence I decided to use another option, which was to contest my inner & outer demons with grace. I kept my mouth shut and only spoke to souls who were truthfully looking out for me. I turned to writing, books, movies, music, and friends… real friends.

I still consider that phase of my life my biggest transition, my official move to the “greener side” of life. Correction, I wasn’t greedy. I do think there’s nothing wrong wanting to get more out of life if you think it will help you become a better person. To prove my point, I do think I changed for the better, and sweet souls I am still trying to be the better person. On top of that, I’m proud to say I’m still the same little miss I used to be--- vibrant, out-going, who believes and works for pure love, but maybe a little crazier (than normal, LOL). Hey, only because I’m so much braver now.

I’m glad that 2011 has been a great year for new experiences, relationships and achievements. Like what I always say, I’ve never been happier. Thus, let me take this opportunity to express my gratitude. Thank you books, thank you music, THANK YOU HIP-HOP, thank you family, thank you friends… for your fortitude, open-mindedness and wisdom. Damn right I survived! *cheers to that ;-)

I’ve always wanted to write something about my boyfriend, but I would always stop myself because I’m afraid I might portray myself as an obsessed girlfriend who has a shrine of some sort in her bedroom. So it’s a good thing that I’m doing this now. I’m a little bit intoxicated and I feel ballsy to spill my guts (thanks Pale Pilsen).

Just a few hours ago I tweeted how I get “kilig” when my boyfriend asks me to grab a beer with him, just like how he would ask his homeboys out. I think it’s special. It’s when both of you can just treat each other like best friends.

Before I dated my boyfriend, he was already a good friend of mine. We drank together, hung-out, exchanged thoughts and love advice from time to time, and just when I thought that was as good as it gets, we found a way to make it known that there was something more… something deeper and pure. Fuck yeah it was reckless, a little stupid and risky but it was real. You can’t really argue with that now, can you? ;-) I guess I just have to thank the universe and my strong will that everything worked out. Honestly, that’s all that matters to me--- peace and love (there’s no other way to say it, so pardon my Miss Universe moment).

It’s been a year now and god it feels good. We are better individuals, better at being a couple, better at being best friends and we are continuously getting better at life, love and friendships. YUP! I just used the word better four times in one sentence because that’s how it is and how it should be.

I have never been happier just feasting every chance we get, watching movies or TV series like Criminal minds, talking about hip-hop, working together as a team, learning from each other--- teaching me Marketing strategies because it was his strong point back in college or me suggesting what he can do with his beats or lyrics, walking down Mt Elgon St at Filinvest 1 to grab bacon and cigarettes at the clubhouse, loving each other, laughing at each others’ expense while lying down in bed, drinking (lots of drinking), making out, and knowing that everything will be okay because we’re together.

We’ve got each other’s backs.

Readingthis made me realize that happiness becomes more valuable to an individual ifit is gained through some means other than your own direct desire of possessingit. Just because you say you want to be happy, isn’t a guarantee that you willbe. Poet Mildred Barthel wrote happiness is a conscious choice, not anautomatic response. I agree. If it was automatic, then that will make us robotswith a “happiness chip” programmed in our system. I’m not saying in order to behappy you need to go through war, some sort of personal battle to find meaningin happiness. As stated, it is a byproduct of purpose--- idea, reason, and rationale. So then I asked myself, what isthe purpose? What is my reason and rationale? I don’t want to pursue happiness.Pursuing something intangible, particularly without reason is a wild-goosechase. I learned that others create happiness, and you know what? I believe itworks. So going back, what is my reason to be happy?

HEALTH.

Healthyphysically, mentally and emotionally. Being healthy in this manner would makeme a better person. It will help me build better relationships. It will help memake better decisions. At the same time, it will give me the verve I need to gothrough life.

ME.

Acomplete ME, aware of my strengths and flaws. Certain flaws are necessary forthe whole. It would seem weird if I lacked certain quirks, right? Someone askedme if I think I was a complete person? I do think only I can judge that. To me,I strongly believe I am. Why? Because I can stand on my own! I have my careerand my own accomplishments. I have friends. I have my own mind, which I think is very important. I have my morals.All of these are mine. However, I’m not afraid to need someone. Life is tough,and sometimes I go through phases wherein I can’t do it all alone. That doesn’tmake me less a complete person.

SUPPORT.

Familyand Friends. I don’t expect everyone to be on-board with all of my decisions.I’m sure some of my family members or close friends have had problems with someof the choices I made in my life. Doesn’t matter. What matters is they arestill here with me. I am also fortunate that I am blessed with supportive peersat work. They make my everyday 8-5 manageable and fun. With that said, thesepeople, we may not communicate everyday but when push comes to shove, I knowthey will be there.

LOVE.

My reason to be happy is him. No matter what happens, I love him. I want him in my life because when the smoke clears---until everything ambiguous, painful dissipate; it's him I want to see.

Yayy! I'm the happiest lil duckie in the world because my boyfriend's back from T.Dot! I missed him so and ever since we've been hanging out non-stop. Anyways, I wanted to share with you guys all the cool stuff he got me.

Jon got me a leather jacket from H&M. Boy, got taste huh? ;-) It's the perfect leather jacket. The fit is great, the length--- like how it falls right above my hip-bone. I will share piccies of me wearing it, so wait for my birthday post.

He also gave me this comfy sweater from Filipinas Clothing, a clothing company based in Toronto and a King Of The Dot shirt! I actually begged him to bring me home one, hihi.

Lastly, he also got me freeze dry strawberry chocolates during his 5-hour layover in Korea.

This is how it looks like from the inside. It's so yummy. It's light and slightly crunchy.

BUT THE BEST PART is really having my boyfriend back. He was only gone for about 2weeks but I swear, Manila's so boring without him. =)

Day 03: What’s the nicest thing anyone has ever said to you?

People have said to me that I’m wise beyond my years. It’s nice to hear that others view me this way because it makes me feel like I’m on the right track. I must admit, I do feel like I’m an old soul sometimes. I guess it’s because I have this habit of taking life more serious than other people my age. I try not to do that all the time, but when I do I look at the big picture of life. Plus, I enjoy having conversations with people way older than me. My dad always talks to me about business, history and theories. At work, I usually deal with people who are way older than me. I also don’t miss the opportunity to indulge myself in topics or discussions on Industrial Organizational Psychology, Social Psychology, Economics, Marketing, Politics and the like. At the same time, I would describe myself as process-oriented and goal-oriented. I strongly believe it is quite detrimental to choose a mindset exclusively. As a result, when I interact with others, I tend to appear like “I’ve got it all figured out”.

To be honest though, I don’t really know what “wise” means. Does it mean you know a lot of things? Experienced? Or something else? The word is just too much for me! BUT for those who think I’m wise beyond my years, THANKS! (Laughs)

Day 02: Write about the best friends you’ve had over the years

• Jessy
- Jess and I met in college. At that time, we weren’t close yet. She and I would hang out, drink, cut classes together, and party with our other friends. She left for Canada sometime 2nd year? I’m not so sure, but yeah she left. We remained in contact through YM and Facebook. I remember this one time we talked on YM for a long time, and discovered that we pretty much had a lot in common. Other than the constant drama in our lives, we liked the same music, food, fashion, views and the list goes on. It was instant connection, like love at first sight. Ever since then, we would always “chat” each other up and regularly update each other. She’s very special. I don’t know, but sometimes I still can’t believe how we’re still close to think we just YM each other or Skype. I guess it only proves that you don’t have to be physically present all the time to maintain a relationship with someone. It’s really great how we have that unstated statement going on. (Hi Jess, sending my love! Missing you everyday.)

• Nisa
- I met Nisa through a common friend back in college. They’re actually high school best friends. I’m pretty close to this girl too, so the three of us got to hang out a lot! Through time, Nisa and I were able to build our own relationship. We went through so much in college. We shared a lot of fun and down moments together too. Sharing those experiences made us tighter, you know? It’s really funny because Nisa and I are total opposites. She doesn’t drink, she enjoyes her bacon ultra salty and I like mine honey-cured, she’s a girly-girl and I’m one of the boys. In spite of our differences, I strongly believe it makes our friendship really exciting. I get to fill that crazy side of her, and she tames me. I love her to death. Oh and I’m very proud of Nisa. She’s currently in Fashion School and she’s doing a pretty darn good job! Watch out for her you fashion peoples. (Laughs)

• Paulina
- I also met Pau in College, but what we have really is the fact that we’re neighbors. She lives 3 minutes away from me, and we always hang out. AND I MEAN ALWAYS. She’s really close to my family, my nieces/nephews they all love her! It’s because she’s very amiable. She has a good spirit and a very caring heart. We’ve been through so much! Ex-boyfriend ordeals, family matters, college drama… name it! I treat her like my little sister. When she was going through a rough time with her ex-boyfriend, I made sure I was there for her every time she was down. You mess with her, you mess with me! But just like sisters, we fought a couple of times too. However, it only made us stronger. We’re closer than ever, and the trust is there. I’m happy that she’s still part of my life. I’ll always have her back and I’ll always be protective of her. PLUS, how cute is it that we have the same shoe size? ;-)

• Ross
- Ross is also a college buddy! She was the friendly face I used to see around campus. Then we started hitting up the same parties and hanging around the same crowd. Our friendship just blossomed from there. We just really hit it off! Ross has the best sense of humor. I’m really drawn to her personality. She’s so innocent, but girl is down, if you know what I mean. She’s always there for me. Whenever I’m depressed I just ring her and she’s ready to listen. She knows how to give proper advice because she’s not scared to tell you when you’re wrong. Now, that’s a kind of friend you want to have! Like I said, girl is down. She’s game to do crazy things, and if she’s in the mood she might even take the lead. It sucks though, because she’s leaving for Frisco on the 24th. I will miss her terribly! And oh my, calls will be so damn expensive so I don’t know how I’m ever going to call her.

• Migo
- Migo and I got close because of Nisa. They are inseparable! Not that I was forced into having a friendship with him or anything like that. Not at all! Back in college, we had the same classes. He and I hit it off as well! It’s really great that he’s always around because he completes our group! He’s reliable and he’s just so fun to have around. He makes everything so light! I admire him for putting up with our girly drama, seriously. Like, we constantly bombard him with girl shit that sometimes, it amazes me how he’s able to tolerate our ramblings. Migo is the nicest guy ever. So yes, I will kill you if you take advantage of him.

I'm very thankful I have them in my life, they make me a happy camper! ;-)

1. My name is long! I don’t want to type it you guys might use it against me in the future. (laughs)
2. I’m 22 years old, turning 23 in a few days! Yeaa-yuh! August 22, baby.
3. I’m Filipino-Spanish-Chinese
4. I’m obsessed with Paris (sweet Jesus not the celebrity). I want to go to Paris, drink wine, and eat great food. Of course shop! I want to roam the city in a Vespa and take mad pictures.
5. I love talking. Conversations. I’m down for long hours talking about anything and everything. Fuck chatting/texting dude!
6. I have freckles and I actually hate them.
7. I don’t know how to say this but I’m scared of midgets. Well, I don’t know if the right term is “scared” but I get this unusual feeling when I see midgets. I think it’s because of my sister’s troll collection. She would use it to scare me and when she gets mean, she’d hit me with it too! Man, those trolls scare the shit out of me.
8. I love watching TV series. Well, I don’t actually follow them per episode. What I do is I wait for the season to finish and then I buy the DVD. I’m currently watching Season 5 of Criminal Minds.
9. I’m attached to my blackberry and iPad. If you take them away, Ima do some serious throw down.
10. I’m very technical with a lot of things. I work well with procedures or anything step-by-step. I have a thing for facts. I always argue with facts. Little things don’t bother me. They do a little, but generally, I’m good at letting things bother me for a short time and then moving the fuck on. I’m mind first then heart. Don’t get me wrong though, I get emotional. But I always fall back to reason.
11. I have small feet. Size 5! Nyaha. ;-)
12. I have a wrist tattoo.
13. I love MEXICAN food.
14. I’m very traditional. Despite my dressing style and views I actually consider myself to be a traditional girl when it comes to relationships and family. I’m not one of those girls walking around screaming “virgins for life”, okay? I just don’t fool around with random guys. I actually find sex special and a very crucial part of a relationship. Its intimacy, you know? It’s love. So, if I don’t love you, my dress is staying on. I’m a huge fan of chivalry, and dating. I appreciate it when a guy open doors for me, compliment me and treat me like a lady. In my book, you get massive points for chivalry. I don’t chase boys and I hate games. I want dating to be simple, you like me I like you, life’s great, let’s hang out and we’ll have fun. So easy, right? I’m not down for the 50-50 kind. I want a relationship that I can be proud of. I also like the whole suburban house wife image, minus the psycho part though. I want to cook for my boyfriend, I give myself curfew voluntarily, I have no problems staying home just watching TV or reading a book. I don’t know, nowadays people are just so fucking pretentious making things complicated. It’s so easy and god, I hate drama.

On a lighter, more personal note… this week has been exhausting for me on a much more uninspiring level. I’m starting to feel sick. Although I kind of think it’s all in my head, and I’m just weak or stressed out. Anyway, I could really use some human warmth. CUDDLE WEATHER! I need a wide comfortable bed and a warm hug, to stress my point (thank you tumblr), see image below.

I’m so addicted to my iPAD2, and we’ve only been together for 2 months. I find it sooo useful. I use it for work: access my emails, reading, editing files and note taking. I use it for my social networking sites, blogging, games and music. It’s so light, I carry it with me everywhere I go.

Last night, I finally got the courage to jailbreak my iPAD2 so I can download paid apps for free. Sorry, I know I’m such a pirate and a cheapskate. HAHAHA! Anyways, it was so easy! Thanks to my friend Nisa and YouTube for how-to videos!

My daddy is one helluva of a man! He refers to himself as an O.G.! According to him, it stands for Original Gangster & Old Guy. Weirdo, huh? Hahaha! He’s such a character! I don’t know if I’ve ever mentioned this but he’s not my biological father. Though we’re not blood related, it doesn’t matter. He’s the best dad anybody could ever have.

I remember he would always have his friends over for drinks, gambling and tobacco. And little ol me would run around and sit in the big boys table, listen in while they talk about grown up stuff. My dad never shooed me away. In fact, he explained to me the conversation and when it gets PG 13 he covered my ears. My dad also exposed me to different things: books, movies, music--- I mean anything and everything, he shared it with me. Until now, he still tells me stories about Marcos, The World War, and his theories concerning the Yamashita Treasure. The list goes on! You see, my dad’s a talker, an educator. We share the same views but it’s funny when we get into a debate. Oh Lord, time to stretch those brain muscles because it’s going to be a long one.

His closest friends would always tell us that my daddy’s fearless. I agree. He fought his own battles. Definitely, his biggest battle is cancer and look at him… still surviving! I am forever proud.

I’ve come to realize that I am much like my dad. He raised me to be a fighter. He taught how to be like a business “man”. He trusted me that I would always do the right thing, and that made me fearless. I am forever grateful.

So to the best daddy in the world, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

I thought I should tell you things that other people know but I may not have ever told you. You are my hero. I will always look up to you. Thank you for teaching me everything you know and for raising me to be a fighter. I’m a strong girl because of you. You are my only “kakampi” so don’t leave me yet, please? You have to tell me more of your famous stories. I am still Daddy’s girl and proud of it.

I’m sure you all know by now that I love Mexican Food. I’m all for steak, pasta, salad and wine too, but nothing gets my heart jumping like a-40-year-old-man-having-a-heart-attack than Mexican Food. Some would say that Mexican Food is the least versatile cuisine and it could be just as bad as American fast food. Personally, the best thing about it is just that. It’s simple! I love that it’s spicy too! So ever since I’ve been on the look out for authentic Mexican joints here in Manila. I’ve tried a lot, even those shady pretentious looking ones. Just recently, I found out about this new place called, Chihuahua Mexican Grill. Actually, funny story! I was online on Facebook, pretty much doing what half of the 750 million active users are doing… *click-refresh*, and I stumbled upon this update on my news feed: Cat liked Chihuahua Mexican Grill. I checked out their photos, menu and oh they have a hot sauce wall and a hot sauce battle royale? It’s on like Donkey Kong, I thought to myself!

My first visit, I was with my boyfriend and his best friend.

We had our own hot sauce battle. I was going up against two boys who grew up in Indo, and my boyfriend lived in Thailand for quite some time too. Ppppsh, whatever right? Girl, can handle her hot sauce. HAH! ;-)We tried the ones already available to the public and hands down the winner is Tabasco’s Habanero hot sauce! Oh and they have Dr. Pepper Cherry, the best drink evah!!

You guys should visit the place and try their food. It's great! Nice place to chill and drink, they have the best Magarita and Mexican Cerveza Michelada!

Oh and why the name? It’s named after the famous Mexican dog Chihuahua and it also came from the expression, Ay, Chihuahua! Clever, huh? ;-)

I recently made some changes to my blog. I changed the header, what do you think? I have to thank my good friend Czar for this. Amazing, eh? Also, I removed my Formspring. I don’t check it anymore because I forgot my password and I’m just too damn lazy to retrieve it. Plus, I don’t have the time to monitor comments. So if you really need to contact me, don’t be afraid fishy! Shoot me an email using a decent email address with the right contact information (please see about me for my email address). I’m attached to my IPAD2 and emailing is my thing (haha). I’m also planning to change my tabs up there. Do you have any suggestions on what I should keep and chuck out? Definitely the writtens will stay. But yeah let me know.

So what’s been happening? A lot actually. Where do I begin? For gigs, the recent Audible MCs reunion was such a success! It was amazing, seriously! I can’t wait to see them perform again! It was one sick set with the live band and all! Everyone went crazy as soon as they hit the stage. It was so surreal! Someone even posted a video on Facebook but I’m not sure if it’s set to private. I’ll work on that and hopefully I can share it with you guys. I have pictures hope this works! Credit to Carlo Salcedo. : )
